Meet Rich
When the idea for this project began, I was sitting in a familiar chair, sipping a coffee, with a clear view of Rich. He had his customary pad and pencil, with a cheeky smile that always invites a “Hello” or a “What are you drawing today?” It’s people like Rich, warm and welcoming, who make this community familiar; a place to call home.
A glimpse of Rich’s drawing pad will reveal his signature blend of alien, humanoid, sea-creature, or a mixture of all of the above, each containing a multitude of creativity and whimsy. His daily practice is a reminder that giving ourselves space to create–to bring out all the weird and wild inspiration that lurks inside us–is always a worthwhile endeavor. His slogan, “Keep calm and make weird art,” is one of many secrets to living well.
Beyond his artistic expression is Rich’s lifetime of achievements in music and education. As a retired teacher of Music Theory, Band, and the Humanities, Rich uses his spare time to remain a prolific basoonist and member of many a local music group.
